Augmented Sandbox
The AR Sandbox combines the power of exploration with advanced learning to create topographic models. The Sandbox uses a computer projector and a motion-sensing input device mounted above a box of sand, which detects the distance to the sand below.
A 3-D model of the surface is projected onto the sand surface, with contour lines and a colour-coded elevation map representing the corresponding topography. As users move the sand, the camera perceives the changes, and the projected colours and contour lines change accordingly.
